Dear Dad,
Happy Birthday! May this year be the year you catch the biggest fish you’ve ever caught, laugh more than you did the year before and may you be surrounded by abundant love! On this day I want to thank you for your part in being the woman I am today.
You taught me honesty. No matter the question, your answer has always been honest. You never tried to hide or shield anything from me. Even when I wanted you to say I’m right you can point out when I’m wrong. You’re one to listen first and answer objectively. At any age I could ask you about your life before I was born, aka the one before you became and upstanding citizen lol, and without hesitation you answered truthfully about what you’ve done, how you did, with who and where lol. You’ve always been honest with me and I thank you for that.
You nurtured my inquisitiveness. I’ve been told at a young age I was “destructive.” I just wanted to know how things were made, there’s a picture of me with my mechanical toy dog and a screw driver lol. I know you were the one behind the camera and were prob the one to give me the screwdriver lol. I remember when I was maybe around 10 I wanted this box to put my things in, think of a teenage toy box of sorts. I really wanted to help build it, you took me in the garage and we built it together. My “destructiveness” led me to be the “handy” woman I am today. I don’t know how to fix everything but I know my way around a drill and that’s because of you!
You’ve taught me my value. From the time I was born you’ve taught me how a man should treat me. We’ve had our ups and downs but I’ve always been daddy’s little girl aka princess aka pumpkin aka the favorite. From spoiling me at a young age, I’m still the only girl I know who had a Barbie Corvette, to being an example of a great husband. The respect, concern and care you have for Yolanda has shown me what to look for. To have the foundation of who I am in the eyes of my father has helped me to further understand who I am through my Heavenly Father.
Daddy, I hope you know how much I love you and what our relationship means to me. You’ve allowed me to make mistakes, move across the country and follow my dreams. If things don’t work out I know you’ll always be there to lend an ear, fianances or even your own two hands. I thank you for my sense of humor, my height, my entire face (apparently I look just like you) and my mathmatical inclination. I wish I had a bit more of your cleaniness gene, your street smarts, your ability to be there for everyone and your strength to keep it together when it seems the world is falling apart around you. On this day and each one to come may you know that I love you, I miss you and can’t wait until our next FaceTime.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!
