Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I thought I’d revisit one of my old posts, Valentine’s Day Couple’s Outfits Lookbook. With the help of my friend John and Media Playground PR, I created 3 couple’s looks for 3 different date occasions. Living in New York now I see these are definitely more for a California type February.
CASUAL DAY DATE:
This look is perfect for a laid back date to a pizza parlor, the movies or even an amusement park. To achieve my look I paired colorful high waisted skinny jeans with a crop top and textured parka. I kept my shoes and accessories simple as I was mixing prints on top with my shirt and jacket. For his look I anchored his print on the bottom and kept the top half pretty simple with a colored denim jacket and white tee. The key to this look is being comfortable and having fun, mix prints, try and bold print or colored denim.

DAY TO NIGHT:
Going to an early dinner then to catch a live performance or perhaps you just like to get a bit dressed up for dates? This look is a great option for you. For my look I opted for a lightweight dress in a light color added a metallic pop for a shoe and a neutral bag. I would add a light sweater to this look, especially for those chilly LA nights. I elevated his denim on denim look by adding more monocromatic blue with his blazer and hat. I opted for a more rugged boot to add a bit of edge to his look but they can easily be swapped out for sneakers or a more refined boot. The key to this look is evaluating an otherwise casual look; for you add a heel and maybe to statement jewelry and for him add a sports coat or blazer.
EVENING DATE:
Need a look for a night on the town? cocktails and dinner? or even live jazz? Opt for a long sleeve printed body-con dress like I did for this look. I kept by bag simple but added a shoe with a metallic pop. I pinned my hair up and went for a larger earring and kept the rest of my jewelry minimal. To keep it evening and less club I showed off my legs but kept everything else covered. Opt for a longer length skirt if you want a low neckline.Still not wanting to be too stiff or dressy I opted for a cotton suit in an uncommon color for him. I paired the suite with a white button down, a neutral hat and kept the same boots from the second look. The key to this look is not look like you’re going to the club but still want to be sexy; for him an unconventional suit color is a great way to keep an evening look less boring.
